La Gomera

La Gomera is a small island full of wonders. We invite you to come and visit  us!

CARTA EUROPEA DE TURISMO SOSTENIBLE

sustainable tourism in la gomera, is possible!

We love to travel GREEN, but unfortunately it is not always possible.

Sustainable tourism in the world is still a bit complicated.. BUT that doesn’t mean that we have to loose hope. Instead, let’s encourage the different type of businesses to be more aware with our environment.

So, when we knew that La Gomera was our following destination, we decided to take actions. We agreed on setting up our business in that direction, the ecofriendly path.

We wanted to be able to provide a real green stay for our guests. With homemade cleaning products, homegrown herbs and spices, things done from scratch by us. Also,  providing environmental ideas to help revert climate change, and sharing our love and passion for Mother Earth.

While investigating about eco-friendly options on the island, we found out about the CETS (Carta Europea de Turismo Sostenible).

And now, WE ARE PART OF IT!

Be Conscious Travels signing with CETS
Be Conscious Travels is now part of CETS

Sustainable Tourism Letter.

What is the CETS?

The CETS is a voluntarily commitment between a National Park from Europe, in our case, the Garajonay National Park, with the public and private sector to promote sustainable tourism and to protect the parks. Who doesn’t love parks?

The EUROPARC Federation is the entity behind this wonderful idea.

So now you belong to CETS, but what does that really mean?

When you are part of the CETS, you need to create an x amount of projects related to the environment, local development and the National Park Garajonay. Besides that, promote the local production and services, educate about the environment and of course, how to take care of the National Park and how to help preserve it.

The main different actions that we decided to take are the following:

  • Educational archeological box for kids;
  • Plántate space for thermophilic plant distribution;
  • Signs with information about the local flora and fauna;
  • Implement several measures to reduce water consumption;
  • Create and distribute an e-book with natural recipes to clean your home;
  • Educational model about the desertification problem in La Gomera and around the world;
  • Boutique-display with products from La Gomera;
  • 0 KM packages in Alajeró; and
  • many more.
