PROJECT Plántate

Plántate: Planting the future together!

Proyecto Plántate

Plántate in English means “Plant yourself”. This is a wonderful program from Cabildo de la Gomera that started in September 2019, with the intention of repopulating the thermophilic forest from this island.

Thanks to those actions, the island counts with more than 7.500 new specimens. Can you imagine that?

Flora will help the soil to be reinforced, catch some clean water particles from the clouds, a new home for the local fauna and also flora, transform from CO2 to O2, and for sure to minimize climate change.

If you want to learn more about their project, here is a video from the Cabildo explaining a bit more about it.

So you would like to help, but you don’t live on the island?

No worries! We ALWAYS have a couple of trees available so our guests can be part of the change.

But you are not staying with us?

Not a problem! If you are traveling to La Gomera and we are not part of the places where you are staying, you can always visit our project. And as we mentioned before, we always have plants available and ready to be planted.

Just don’t forget to contact us in advance, so we can organize our agenda.

Now it’s possible to donate to the project to reduce your carbon footprint in La Gomera.

You live in la Gomera and/ or you want to be part of this project?

You can go directly to the nursery garden, request the plants (totally FREE), and plant them in your garden. They will inform you which plants correspond to the location of your home.

They have more than 20 endemic species available.

Mainly during the first year of life (with you), you will need to take care of them, after that, the plants are strong enough to survive on their own.

We are proud to say that during this period of time, we have planted plenty of local trees with the help of our guests and neighbors.

How many?       Check it out here.
